TITLE: THE ROLE OF EDUCATION IN MY PASSION

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 18:15 (NIV)

“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out." 

Devotional:

Education involves seeking knowledge.  It plays a crucial role in our lives by the huge impact on our academics, character, values and the quality of work and life. Consider the story of Solomon, who sought knowledge and wisdom above all else at a young age and became king. When God appeared to Solomon in a dream and offered to grant him whatever he asked for, Solomon chose wisdom to lead his people effectively. 

He understood the role of education and application of the same, in discovering and pursuing one's passion and purpose.

This decision pleased God, who not only granted Solomon unparalleled wisdom but also blessed him with wealth and honour. (1 Kings 3:5-14). 

Solomon's story underscores the importance of valuing education and wisdom as foundational to discovering and fulfilling our life's purpose.

Whilst, knowledge involves knowing what to do, wisdom is knowing why and when to do it effectively.

Here are a few reflective questions:

1. What are my educating myself with or on? Will they help me develop the skills necessary to pursue my passion?
2. What subjects or activities do I feel most passionate about? How do they align with my sense of purpose?
3. How can I seek wisdom and discernment in my life’s journey to ensure it aligns with God's plan for my life?

Let us pray:

Dear Lord, please help me seek the right knowledge at all times. Please grant unto me wisdom, knowledge and understanding and the grace to put them all to work in Jesus name.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

• I am here because I am talented.
• I will educate myself only on what is relevant to my talent.
• With an open heart, I will seek wisdom and knowledge because I know that each step brings me closer to fulfilling my God-given purpose.
