My purpose? What is it? 

Finding our purpose can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially as teenagers navigate school, friendships, and future aspirations. The purpose is not just about what we do but about understanding who we are in God's eyes and how we can use our unique talents and passions to make a difference. The far-reaching impact of purpose will be felt not just by the person with the purpose, but by the world around him and generations to come. You can then imagine if the purpose is not fulfilled; many lives will be denied the benefits of the purpose.

Consider the story of Esther in the Bible. She was an ordinary Jewish girl who became queen and faced a daunting challenge: to save her people from destruction. As queen, she faced a critical decision: remain silent and safe or risk her life to save her people. Despite her fears and uncertainties, Esther embraced her purpose with courage, realising she was placed in her position "for such a time as this" (Esther 4:14).

Her story reminds us that our purpose is often revealed through the opportunities and challenges we face and that God has a plan for each of us, even when we can't see the whole picture. By trusting in God's plan and seeking His guidance, we can find the strength to embrace our unique path and make a meaningful impact on the world around us.

Here are a few reflective questions:

1. Was there a time when I felt I made a difference in someone's life? What did I do, and how did it impact me and the other person?
2. Are there any challenges or obstacles I currently face that might be an opportunity for growth or discovering my purpose?
3. How can I seek God’s guidance and listen for His direction in my daily life to uncover my purpose?

Let us pray:

Lord, please show me the way to go. Please open my eyes of understanding and my heart to discern why you have called me.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

• I am here because I am uniquely created by God for a purpose.
• I know God has a plan for my life. 
• I will daily walk with God for guidance.
