03-OCTOBER-2024 - STRENGTH IN YOUR WEAKNESS
THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?
TITLE: STRENGTH IN YOUR WEAKNESS
Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."
Devotional
Weakness is not something we usually like to talk about. In a world that values strength, talent, and success, admitting our weaknesses can feel like admitting defeat. But what if your weaknesses were actually an opportunity for God to show His strength in your life? In a world that says you need to be perfect; God says His power is made perfect in your weakness.
Amanda always felt like she wasn’t good enough. She struggled with anxiety and felt overwhelmed by the pressures of school, friendships, and expectations. She often compared herself to others and felt she didn’t measure up. One day, during a youth group meeting, the leader talked about how God uses our weaknesses to show His strength. Amanda was intrigued but unsure if it applied to her.
A few weeks later, Amanda’s youth leader asked if she would share her story with the group. At first, she hesitated. What could she possibly share that would be helpful? She felt too weak, too imperfect. But after praying about it, she decided to be honest about her struggles with anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. To her surprise, her story resonated with many others in the group. They were encouraged by her honesty. At that moment, Amanda realized that God had used her weakness to strengthen others. Her struggles weren’t a barrier to God’s work—they were a platform for it.
We all have weaknesses, areas in our lives where we feel inadequate or struggle. But God doesn’t see our weaknesses the way we do. Instead of being a reason for shame, our weaknesses can be a powerful reminder of our need for God and His grace.
God’s strength shines the brightest in our weaknesses. When we admit that we can’t do it on our own, we make room for God to step in and do what only He can do. It’s not about pretending to be strong when we’re not; it’s about letting God’s strength work through us in those weak areas.
This week, think about an area in your life where you feel weak or inadequate. Instead of hiding it or pretending it’s not there, bring it to God in prayer. Ask Him to show His strength in your weakness. Then, consider sharing your struggle with a trusted friend or mentor. You might be surprised at how God uses your story to encourage others.
Your weaknesses don’t disqualify you from God’s love or His plans for your life. Instead, they provide a powerful opportunity for you to experience His strength and grace. Remember, it’s not about being perfect; it’s about letting God’s perfect power work through your imperfections. When you are weak, He is strong.
Here are a few reflective Questions:
- What are some areas in my life where I feel weak or inadequate? How do these areas make me feel?
- Why do I think God allows me to experience weaknesses? What might He want to teach me through them?
- How does the promise of God’s power being made perfect in weakness change my perspective on my own struggles?
Let Us Pray:
Dear God, thank you for loving me even in my weaknesses. Help me to see that my weaknesses are not something to be ashamed of, but an opportunity for Your strength to shine through. Amen.
Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them.
- I know what I have
- God's strength is made perfect in my weakness.
- In my weakness, I find God's grace and power.
- I don't have to be perfect; God's power works through my imperfections and I trust God to turn my weaknesses into opportunities for His glory.
Do have a beautiful day. See you tomorrow.
