  Devotional

Life can get overwhelming, especially when it feels like there’s always something going wrong. School stress, family issues, friendship drama. They can all pile up and make you feel like everything is against you. But in the midst of all that, have you ever stopped to think about what you have or what is working? What if you start counting your blessings instead of focusing on what is missing or what is a challenge?

Imagine you have a jar, and every time something good happens, you put a marble in it. Maybe you got a good grade, had a fun time with friends, or simply enjoyed a beautiful day. Over time, that jar would fill up, right? The more you focus on the good, the more you realize how much you have to be thankful for.

What if you took time each day to count your blessings? It might seem like a small thing, but gratitude has a way of transforming our hearts and minds. When you focus on what you have, rather than what you lack, you start to see how much God has already provided for you. It’s not about ignoring the challenges, but about recognizing that even in tough times, God’s blessings are still there.

Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you” when things are good; it’s about seeing God’s goodness in every part of your life. When you start counting your blessings, you’ll find that you have more than you ever realised.

This week, start keeping a gratitude journal. It may seem a challenge at the beginning but keep at it. Every night, write down three things you’re thankful for. It could be something big, like a breakthrough in a relationship, or something that seems basic or small, like a good meal or a smile or kind words from a friend. It could even be your favourite video game or television show you watched. At the end of the week, look back at your list and see how your perspective may have changed.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What are the good things in my life right now that I often take for granted?
  2. How have I seen God's provision and care in my life recently?
  3. What challenges am I facing, and how can I find the blessings or opportunities for growth within them?

 Let Us Pray:

Dear God, thank You for all the blessings in my life. Sometimes, I get so focused on what’s wrong that I forget all the good things You’ve given me. Help me to always have a heart of gratitude and to see Your hand at work in every situation. Teach me to count my blessings every day, so that I can live with joy and thankfulness. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them.

  • I know what I have
  • I wake up each day with a heart full of gratitude for the blessings I have, the people, opportunities, and moments that enrich my life.
  • God's goodness surrounds me every day, and I choose to see it.
  • No matter what I face, I will be grateful.

Do have a happy day. See you tomorrow.
