11-NOVEMBER-2024 - ROADBLOCKS AND DETOURS

THE MAIN THEME: HOW DO I GET TO WHERE I AM GOING?

TITLE: ROADBLOCKS AND DETOURS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is:  Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."_

Devotional:

Life is a journey. Sometimes it feels like you are cruising along, knowing exactly where we’re headed. But then, out of nowhere, a roadblock or detour pops up. You didn’t see it coming, and now you're forced to stop or change direction.

Roadblocks and detours take you off your planned route, leaving you confused and frustrated. But the truth is, they are a part of life. They show up in the form of unexpected struggles, failing a class, dealing with family problems, or facing your own insecurities.

These obstacles can make you feel like you’re never going to get to where you want to be.

But what if those roadblocks and detours aren’t there to stop you but to teach you something important along the way?

Sometimes God allows detours and roadblocks for a reason. Maybe He's redirecting you because He knows there’s a better route ahead.

Perhaps He’s slowing you down to protect you from something, or to give you the chance to grow stronger in areas of your life.

Joseph in the Bible faced multiple roadblocks: betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and thrown into prison and forgotten by the butler who he helped while in prison.

But each detour led him closer to his purpose of becoming a leader who would save his people.

He was however steadfast through all his experiences.

God has a plan for your life, too. When you hit a roadblock, don’t lose hope. Trust that God is at work, even when the way forward isn’t clear.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • How do I normally respond when things don’t go as planned?
  • What would it look like to trust God’s plan even when life feels uncertain?

Let us pray:

Dear God, sometimes the road ahead feels difficult and confusing.  Teach me to rely on Your wisdom and guidance, knowing that You see the whole picture even when I can’t.in Jesus name.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • Roadblocks will not distract me from getting to where I am going.
  • I am strong enough to overcome roadblocks, knowing that each challenge helps me grow.
  • With God’s wisdom, I navigate life's obstacles with faith and confidence.

Have an awe-mazing day overcoming roadblocks. I’ll see you tomorrow.
