13-DECEMBER-2024 - THE POWER OF YOUR BELIEFS

THE MAIN THEME: WHEN DO I GET THERE?

TITLE: THE POWER OF YOUR BELIEFS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Mark 5:25-28 (NIV)

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.

 Devotional:

We have another remarkable story from the bible for our discussion today. There was a woman who had an issue of blood , and had expended all her resources to get a solution, all to no avail. At this time, the bible says she had spent all she had and was not getting better, rather she grew worse. Then she heard Jesus was in town, and was healing people.

Despite the cultural and legal barriers that should have prevented her from even coming through the crowd, she took a step of faith, because she had heard about Jesus. What she had heard, formed a belief in her heart that she could be healed if she only got to Jesus. She didn’t even want to be seen or prayed for…….that was how strong her faith was. Whatever she had heard about Jesus had stirred such a strong conviction in her that made her take  action, and that action led to her miracle.

Beliefs affect our behaviors, rationality, and feelings, and ultimately control our quality of life. Empowering beliefs lead to an empowered life, while limiting beliefs have the opposite effect.

Our story details the process… she heard about Jesus… and I believe she continued hearing and that stirred her faith, then she believed and said to herself so many times that she could not be dissuaded that the act of touching Jesus would solve her problem. Let’s repeat the process for emphasis- she heard, she believed, she said to herself, she touched, and she was healed.

She believed the information she heard, then she continuously affirmed to herself that if she could get to Jesus, she would be well and she took action and got her result.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What are my beliefs?
  • Are my beliefs empowering or disempowering
  • Will these beliefs enhance or jeopardize my future?

Let Us Pray:

Dear God, I thank you for this reminder that what I believe is powerful. Help me review my beliefs and replace limiting beliefs with positive ones in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • God knows when I will get there.
  • I choose to believe in the best
  • I choose to make my positive affirmations.
  • I act in accordance with my empowering beliefs

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!
