13-JANUARY-2025 - A FRIEND THAT CARES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: A FRIEND THAT CARES

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 17:17 (NIV)

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."

Devotional:
True friendship is one of life’s greatest treasures. A caring friend is someone who stands by you, not just in the good times but also during challenges. They listen, encourage, and help lighten your burdens. Caring friends are like anchors, offering stability and strength when life feels overwhelming.

One beautiful example of friendship in the Bible is Jonathan and David. Jonathan, the son of King Saul, cared deeply for David and protected him, even when his own father sought to harm David. Jonathan’s care wasn’t based on what he could gain but on a selfless commitment to David’s well-being. Their friendship reminds us of the value of having and being a friend who genuinely cares.

In today’s fast-paced world, caring friendships can sometimes feel rare. But as much as we seek such friends, we are also called to be that kind of friend to others. Being a caring friend involves showing empathy, being present, and offering encouragement and support without expecting anything in return.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Do I have friends who truly care for me, and how do they show it?
  2. Am I a caring friend to those in my circle?
  3. How can I nurture and strengthen the caring friendships in my life?

Let us pray:
"Lord, thank You for the gift of friendships. Help me to cherish and nurture the friends who care for me and teach me to be a friend who reflects Your love and kindness. Surround me with people who uplift and inspire me. Amen."

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am empathetic, an enabler, an encourager and an extraordinary gift to humanity.
  • I am grateful for friends who care for me and show genuine love.
  • I am filled with love for myself and for my friends

I wish you my lovelies, a lovely day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!
