TITLE: DISCOVERING ULTERIOR MOTIVES

By their fruit you will recognize them.

Devotional:
Choosing the right companions for life’s journey requires more than assessing outward appearances or words; it requires discernment. Jesus Himself modeled this. While He welcomed all, He also knew the hearts of those around Him. He understood who was genuine and who had ulterior motives.

People may walk with you for various reasons—some pure, some self-serving. It’s not always easy to spot motives immediately, but God grants us wisdom to discern. Pray for clarity, observe their actions, and pay attention to patterns. Genuine companions uplift, encourage, and align with your values and purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions:

• What "fruit" have I noticed in the actions of those closest to me?
• Are there any relationships in my life that need closer discernment?
• How can I rely more on God to guide me in identifying true companions?

Let Us Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my light and guide. I ask for Your wisdom to discern the true motives of those I walk with. Teach me to see beyond appearances and recognize the fruit of their lives. Protect me from harm and guide me toward relationships that reflect Your love and truth. Amen.

 Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

• I trust God to reveal the true nature of those around me.
• I walk with people who bear good fruit in their lives.
• I have wisdom and discernment in my relationships.
