TITLE: MY VALUES AND MY FRIENDS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV)

Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.

Devotional:
Our values shape who we are and guide our decisions, including the choice of friends. Friendships have a powerful influence on our lives—they can either build us up or lead us astray. If we surround ourselves with people whose actions and beliefs align with our values, we’re more likely to grow and thrive. On the other hand, keeping close relationships with those who disregard our principles can cause us to compromise and stray from our purpose.

Think about Daniel and his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They shared a strong commitment to God and encouraged each other to stay true to their faith, even in the face of danger. Their shared values gave them the strength to resist the pressures of Babylonian culture and stand firm in their beliefs. This example reminds us of the importance of choosing friends who uphold and reinforce our values.

Your values act as a compass, guiding you toward what is right and meaningful. Surrounding yourself with friends who respect and reflect these values helps you stay true to who you are, even when challenges arise.

Here are a few reflective questions:

1. Do my current friendships align with my core values?
2. How do my friends influence my decisions and behaviors?
3. Are there relationships I need to adjust or let go of to protect my values?

Let us pray:

Lord, help me to choose friends who honor and respect the values You’ve placed in my heart.

Teach me to be a good friend and surround me with people who inspire and encourage me to

walk in Your truth. Guide me in nurturing meaningful and uplifting relationships. Amen.
