09-MARCH-2025 - OVERCOMING PROCRASTINATION
THE MAIN THEME: ACHIEVING PERSONAL GROWTH
TITLE: OVERCOMING PROCRASTINATION
The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 6:6 (NIV)
"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!!" –
Devotional:
Imagine a student named Tunde with a big assignment due in two weeks. Instead of starting early, he said, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” Soon, tomorrow became the night before the deadline, and he rushed through the work, stressed and exhausted. Sound familiar? This is the cycle of procrastination— the habit of delaying essential tasks until the last minute.
Many people procrastinate because they feel overwhelmed, distracted, or simply unmotivated. However, successful individuals understand the importance of taking action. Take Thomas Edison, for example. If he had procrastinated, we might not have the electric light bulb today! He knew that consistent effort leads to success, even in small steps.
The key to overcoming procrastination is discipline. Start by breaking large tasks into smaller, manageable steps. Set clear deadlines for yourself and remove distractions. Most importantly, ask God for wisdom and strength to stay focused. Remember, procrastination steals your time and potential. When you take action now, you set yourself up for success in the future.
Procrastination may feel easy at the moment, but it steals your progress. Take that first step today, no matter how small. Your future self will thank you!
Here are a few reflective questions:
- What is one task I often procrastinate on, and why?
- How do I feel when I rush to complete something at the last minute?
- What small steps can I take today to become more disciplined?
- How can trusting God help me to overcome procrastination?
Let us pray:
"Dear Lord, help me overcome the habit of procrastination. Give me the wisdom to plan my time wisely and the discipline to take action. May I use my days purposefully and honour You with my work. Amen."
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:
- I take action today and refuse to delay my success.
- I am disciplined, focused, and motivated.
- Every small step I take brings me closer to my goals.
- I use my time wisely and fulfil my purpose with excellence.
Have a productive and fulfilling day. See you tomorrow!
