10-MARCH-2025 - OVERCOMING THE FEAR OF FAILURE
THE MAIN THEME: ACHIEVING PERSONAL GROWTH
TITLE: OVERCOMING THE FEAR OF FAILURE
The bible verse for today’s devotional is: 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline
Devotional:
Moses grew up in Pharaoh’s palace but fled Egypt after killing an Egyptian who was mistreating a Hebrew slave. Now, years later, he was living a quiet life as a shepherd when God appeared to him in a burning bush with a mission to go back to Egypt and lead the Israelites to freedom.
But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”(Exodus 3:11 NIV)
He came up with one excuse after another, "What if they don’t believe me? I’m not a good speaker. Please send someone else!" I am not eloquent in speech, I even stammer! (Exodus 4:10-13). Moses was afraid of failing. He doubted himself and his abilities.
But God didn’t let Moses’ fear define his future. Instead of giving up on him, God reminded him:
"I have chosen you for this mission." (Exodus 3:10)
"I will be with you." (Exodus 3:12)
"I will give you the words to say." (Exodus 4:12)"
Moses decided to trust God and stepped into his calling. Because of his obedience, God performed miracles, and Moses became one of the greatest leaders in history.
Have you ever felt like Moses, afraid to try something new because you don’t want to fail? Fear of failure can hold you back from becoming everything God created you to be.
You may not be perfect or have all the answers, trust that God is with you. Even if you fall, He will pick you up and guide you forward.
Here are a few reflective questions:
- What is something I have been afraid to try because I fear failure?
- How does Moses’ story encourage me to trust God even when I feel unqualified?
- What would you do differently if you truly believed God was with you?
Let us pray:
Lord, sometimes I feel afraid, uncertain, and unqualified. But I know that You are with me, just as You were with Moses. Give me the courage to step forward, knowing that You are with me to guide me. Amen."
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:
- I am not alone—God is with me in every challenge.
- I am capable because God strengthens me.
- I step forward in faith, knowing that God has already made a way for me.
Have an awesome day and see you tomorrow.
