16-MARCH-2025 - THE ROLE OF CALCULATED RISKS IN PERSONAL GROWTH

THE MAIN THEME: ACHIEVING PERSONAL GROWTH

TITLE: THE ROLE OF CALCULATED RISKS IN PERSONAL GROWTH

The quote for today’s devotional is: "A ship is always safe at shore, but that is not what it’s built for."

– Albert Einstein

Devotional:
Imagine standing at the edge of a swimming pool, hesitant to jump in. You’ve watched others swim, but the fear of the unknown holds you back. Eventually, you take a deep breath, step in, and realise that the water isn’t as scary as you thought. That moment of hesitation is what many experience when faced with risks—especially those that could lead to personal growth.

Calculated risks are different from reckless decisions. They involve stepping out of your comfort zone after careful thought, preparation, and strategy. Every outstanding achievement in history involved someone taking a calculated risk—starting a business, switching careers, or pursuing a bold idea.

Think about Oprah Winfrey. She took the risk of leaving a stable news anchor job to create her talk show, even when people doubted her. That leap of faith turned her into one of the most influential media personalities in the world. Had she stayed where she felt safe, she might never have reached her full potential.

Growth happens when you dare to try something new. Taking calculated risks means researching, preparing, and moving forward despite the fear. It’s about believing in yourself, making informed decisions, and embracing challenges stretching beyond what you thought possible. The most significant rewards in life often come from stepping into the unknown with faith and preparation.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What’s a calculated risk I’ve taken that helped me grow?
  2. Is fear holding me back from making an important decision?
  3. How can I prepare myself before taking a big step?
  4. What’s one small, calculated risk I can take today to move toward your goals?

Let us pray:
"Dear Lord, give me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the opportunities that will help me grow. Help me trust my abilities, make wise decisions, and take bold steps toward my purpose. Amen."

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am bold enough to take calculated risks.
  • I embrace new opportunities with confidence.
  • Growth begins when I step outside my comfort zone.
  • I trust in my ability to make wise decisions.

Take that step, trust the process, and watch yourself grow! See you tomorrow!
