THE MAIN THEME:  ACHIEVING PERSONAL GROWTH

TITLE: THE POWER OF ACCOUNTABILITY IN PERSONAL GROWTH

The bible verse for today’s devotional is:  Romans 14:12

So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

DEVOTIONAL

Most often people make a commitment to (Walk with God, actualize a set goal, or stay true to a cause) with the intention to live up to it.   But along the way they disappoint themselves, God, and people that trusted them.

The scriptures are filled with the stories of people who started strong but didn’t finish well. E.g King Saul, Sampson, etc We need to understand that we never outgrow the need for personal accountability. This is because our past successes are no guarantee of future faithfulness.  We must not underestimate the power of our own sinful passions. Little wonder Apostle Paul says that he intentionally, consistently disciplines his members, making them his slave, so as not to be disqualified.

Our text for today reminds us that we are accountable to God who endowed us to live his purpose here on earth.  Luke 16:10-12 One who is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. if then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? and if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s who will give you that which is your own? Can God trust you enough to give you the true riches; Can God trust you to represent the Kingdom agenda here on earth?

Here are some tips to help you hone your power of accountability towards personal growth:

Regularly track your progress and celebrate small wins to boost motivation and confidence. At the same time, embrace failures as opportunities to learn and foster your resilience. Seek out for an accountability partner (your mentor, or peer who shares the same values with you) Do not overestimate your ability to handle temptation. 1 Corinth 10:12 say “So if you think you are standing firm be careful that you don’t fail” Remember just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other Prov 27:17

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What systems should I create to guard myself from derailing?
  2. Who is that one person that is interested in my personal growth and walk with God?  Prayerfully identify and connect with such a person today!

Let us Pray:

Thank you, Lord, for your word to me today. I receive the grace to intentionally create systems that will hone my accountability in my personal growth and walk with you. Lead me to an accountability partner that sharpen my perspectives in the right direction in Jesus name Amen

Please say these words of affirmation after me.  Say them, mean them, own them and live them

  • I am accountable to God
  • I choose to take responsibility for my choices, actions and be found faithful

Enjoy your day, while I see you, tomorrow.
