18-MARCH-2025 - HOW FAILING FORWARD HELPS PERSONAL GROWTH
THE MAIN THEME: ACHIEVING PERSONAL GROWTH
TITLE: HOW FAILING FORWARD HELPS PERSONAL GROWTH
The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 24:16 (NIV)
"for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes."
Devotional:
Imagine a little child learning to walk. They take a step, stumble, and fall. But instead of giving up, they get back up and try again. Eventually, they walk steadily and even run! This is the essence of failing forward—using failure as a stepping stone to success.
Many successful people failed before they made it big. Thomas Edison, the light bulb inventor, once said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Instead of seeing failure as the end, he saw it as part of the journey.
In life, setbacks are inevitable. You might not pass an important exam, lose a great opportunity, or make a mistake that costs you. But failure itself isn’t the problem; it is refusing to learn from it. Every mistake carries a lesson, and every setback is a setup for a comeback. Even biblical figures like Peter denied Jesus but later became influential leaders in the early church.
When you fail forward, you embrace failure as a teacher. You analyse what went wrong, adjust your strategy, and try again with new wisdom. Over time, this mindset helps you grow, build resilience, and achieve greater success than ever imagined.
Failure is not the opposite of success—it is part of the journey. Keep learning, keep growing, and never be afraid to try again. The greatest successes are built on lessons learned from failures.
Here are a few reflective questions:
- How do I usually respond to failure—do I give up or try again?
- Can I think of a time when a mistake taught me something valuable?
- What fear of failure is holding me back from taking a step toward my goals?
- How can I develop a mindset that sees failure as part of growth?
Let us pray:
"Dear Lord, help me to see failure not as an end but as an opportunity to grow. Teach me to learn from my mistakes, rise after every fall, and trust that You are working all things for my good. Amen."
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:
- I see failure as a lesson, not a limitation.
- Every setback is a setup for my comeback.
- I rise stronger, wiser, and more determined after every fall.
- I am growing into my best self with every experience.
Keep moving forward! See you tomorrow!
