Devotional
Abigail's hands were sweaty as she stood backstage. She had practised for weeks, memorizing every line for the school play audition. But as she watched the other students perform, doubt crept in.
"I’m not as talented as they are," she thought. "What if they realize I don’t belong here?" When it was time to go on the stage, her mind was racing. Even though she had prepared, she felt like a fraud, like she was pretending to be good enough when she really wasn’t.
After the audition, her best friend ran up to her. “You were amazing!” she said. Abigail shook her head. "I don’t think I’m good enough."
Her friend rolled her eyes, "Seriously! Abigail, you worked hard for this. Just because you feel like you don’t belong doesn’t mean it’s true."
Later that night, Abigail opened her Bible and read Ephesians 2:10. It was a reminder that God had created her for a purpose. Maybe she didn’t feel like she was enough, but God said she was.
Have you ever felt like Abigail? Like you don’t deserve to be where you are or that sooner or later, people will find out you’re not as good as they think? That feeling is called impostor syndrome, and it’s something even the most successful people struggle with.
But here’s the truth, God doesn’t make mistakes. He created you with a purpose and has already equipped you with everything you need to succeed. God calls you chosen, capable, and loved so instead of listening to fear, trust God's plan and walk in confidence.
Here are a few reflective questions:
- What are some lies I have believed about myself, and what does God’s Word say instead?
- How does knowing that God has uniquely designed me for a purpose, change the way I see myself?
Let us pray:
Lord, help me to see myself through Your eyes. When doubt creeps in, remind me of Your truth. I trust that You have created me for a reason, and I choose to walk in confidence. Amen."
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:
- I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
- I silence the voice of doubt and trust in God’s truth about me.
- I am enough because God created me with purpose.
Have a confident day and see you tomorrow.
