28-MARCH-2025 - NO SELF DISCIPLINE, NO PERSONAL GROWTH

THE MAIN THEME:  ACHIEVING PERSONAL GROWTH

TITLE: NO SELF DISCIPLINE, NO PERSONAL GROWTH

The bible verse for today’s devotional is:  Proverbs 16:32  (NIV)

Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.

DEVOTIONAL

Self-discipline is the foundation of success, requiring a clear vision and specific, actionable goals. It is the ability to control or restrain ourselves from feelings, impulses, and desires. Self-discipline is a virtue that applies to all aspects of life, including food choices, anger management, relationships choices etc. The bible encourages us to hone our self-discipline skills from the following scriptures:

Prov 23:20-21 “Do not join drunkards or gluttons in their feasting, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags” God condemns gluttony as a sin, encouraging moderation and mindful eating.  Prov 25:28 “Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.” Lack of self-discipline makes you vulnerable to all manner of vices, your life has no boundary, and no fence.   Prov 1:10 “My son if sinners entice thee, do not yield to them.” 2Tim 2:7 God has not given us the spirit of fear but he has given us the spirit of power, love and self-discipline.”

It is a given! Live with this consciousness that you are in control. You have the power to say NO to things that do not align with your values. Do not allow anyone or any circumstance pressure you into a lifestyle you are not meant to live.

Practicing delayed gratification and maintaining a positive mindset allows you to overcome challenges and focus on long-term rewards, with kindness and patience towards yourself, self-discipline becomes a lifelong tool for achieving personal and professional success

Here are a few reflective questions;

  1. How can I build more self-discipline into my daily routine?
  2. What areas of my life will benefit most from increased self-discipline?
  3. What are some common obstacles that prevent me from being more self-disciplined?
  4. What are my goals and how can I discipline myself to achieve them?

Let us Pray:

Thank you Lord, for your word to me today. I receive the spirit of love, power and self-discipline, grant me the wisdom to discern when I am being enticed and grace to consent not in Jesus name Amen

Please say these words of affirmation after me.  Say them, mean them, own them and live them

  • I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.
  • I am worthy of achieving my goals
  • I am becoming more disciplined and resilient.
  • I trust in my ability to stay focused and disciplined.

Have a beautiful day full of discipline, I will see you tomorrow.
