THE MAIN THEME: CHANGING YOUR WORLD

TITLE: EMBRACING YOUR ROLE AS A WORLD CHANGER

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Matthew 5:14 (NIV)
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Devotional:

I am sure there are a lot of things we would love to see change in our worlds, from the minor nuisances that we see around us to more pressing global issues that break our hearts. There is so much that we would love to see get better, and sometimes it can feel overwhelming.

When God called Jeremiah to be a prophet, the Bible records that he objected- he probably saw the level of decadence and his mind could not conceive how on earth he was going to be able to make even a small difference in all that mess. However, God reminded him that He(God) had already equipped him to do the task ahead.

In each of us, God has deposited His Spirit and equipped us before we were born to do whatever He has called us to do. He is not asking us to change everything that we feel burdened about, He is asking us to do the little we can today in obedience to Him. We don’t have to know how it will all work out before we commit to doing our best in what we can do today and trust Him for more guidance as the day progresses.

And this also means that while we are students, our first task/purpose is to complete to the best of our capabilities, the task at hand (our education) and as we go along, other opportunities will open up and then, we can do the best we can in that situation as well. That is what being a world changer is about-doing the best you can where you are, and continuing to ask God to show you what next He has for you, and then you repeat- do the best you can AGAIN!

Here are a few reflective questions:

-          What is one way you can change your world today?

-          At this stage in my life, what is my primary assignment and how can I be a difference maker where I am?

-          What can I do to increase my chances of hearing God and having His help daily?

Let Us Pray::

Dear God, I trust you to enable me to light up my world and honour you each day, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

•       I am a world changer
•       I will be my best and do my best at all times
•       I will not wait to be older to be a difference-maker
•       I am a world-changer, I embrace my role with confidence.

 Dear world changer, I’ll see you tomorrow.
