08-MAY-2025 - FAILING IN RELATIONSHIPS

THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD

TITLE: FAILING IN RELATIONSHIPS

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Devotional

Friendships and relationships don’t always go the way we hope. Maybe you had a disagreement with your best friend, felt betrayed by someone you trusted, or experienced the pain of being left out. Relationship failures can be some of the hardest to deal with because they affect our hearts.

When relationships break, it is easy to feel like something is wrong with you. You might wonder, Was I not good enough? Did I mess everything up? But here’s the truth. Just because a relationship failed doesn’t mean you are a failure.

Even Jesus, who was perfect, experienced broken relationships. Judas, one of His disciples, betrayed Him. Peter denied Him. Many people turned away from Him. Yet, Jesus still loved, forgave, and continued His mission. He didn’t let rejection or relationship failures define Him, and neither should you.

Sometimes, relationships fail because of misunderstandings, mistakes, or simply because people grow apart. Whatever the reason, God calls us to respond with love, forgiveness, and wisdom. Some relationships can be mended with time and effort. Others may need to end, but that doesn’t mean you are unworthy of love or good friendships. God is always with you, and He can heal your heart, bring the right people into your life, and teach you valuable lessons along the way.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Have I ever experienced a broken friendship or relationship? How did it affect me?
  2. How can I respond with grace and forgiveness, even when it’s hard?
  3. What can I learn from past relationship challenges to build healthier ones in the future?

Let us pray

Dear God, when I feel hurt or rejected, remind me that my worth comes from You, not from others. Help me to forgive, heal, and trust You with my friendships. Bring the right people into my life, and help me be a good friend to others. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am not defined by broken relationships.
  • I am loved, valued, and capable of building strong, healthy connections.

Have a lovely day connecting positively. I’ll see y’all tomorrow.
