THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 24:16 (NIV)

"For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes."

Devotional

Have you ever failed at something and felt like giving up? Maybe you studied hard for a test but still didn’t get the grade you wanted. Or perhaps you tried out for a sports team or a school play and didn’t make the cut. Failure can feel embarrassing, frustrating, and even painful.

But here’s the truth—failure does not define you! One mistake, one bad day, or even a series of setbacks do not determine your worth. God does not see you as a failure. He sees you as His child, full of potential and purpose. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 24:16 that even when the righteous fall, they rise again. That means failure is not the end of the story. It’s just a step in your journey.

Think about some of the greatest people in history. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he successfully invented the light bulb. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team before becoming one of the greatest players of all time. Even Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, denied Him three times but later became a leader in spreading the gospel. They didn’t let failure define them, and neither should you.

God is more concerned about your perseverance than your perfection. Each failure is an opportunity to learn, grow, and trust Him more. So, when you fall, don’t stay down. Get back up, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Can I think of a time when I failed at something? How did it make me feel?
  2. What lesson did I learn from that failure?
  3. How can I remind myself that failure does not define me?

Let us pray:

Dear God, thank You for loving me no matter what. Help me to see failure as a stepping stone, not a stopping point. Give me the courage to rise again, learn from my mistakes, and trust You in every challenge. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am not defined by my failures.
  • I am growing, learning, and becoming stronger with God’s help.

Stay strong, lovely ones. I’ll see y’all tomorrow.
