15-MAY-2025 - HANDLING DISAPPOINTMENT
THE MAIN Theme: FAILING FORWARD
TITLE: HANDLING DISAPPOINTMENT
Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Romans 8:28 (NIV)
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose."
Devotional:
Disappointment is an inevitable part of life. You study hard for a test but don’t get the grade you expected. You apply for a leadership position but get passed over. You work on a project, but things don’t go as planned. It’s easy to feel frustrated, discouraged, or even like a failure in moments like these.
Think about Joseph in the Bible. He had dreams of greatness, but his journey was filled with setbacks. His brothers betrayed him, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and thrown into prison. Yet, God worked behind the scenes through every disappointment to position him for something greater. Eventually, he became second-in-command in Egypt and saved many lives, including his family.
Disappointment is not the end of the road. It is a detour leading to something better. Instead of allowing it to crush your spirit, see it as an opportunity to grow, learn, and trust God’s plan. Every failure or setback is a stepping stone toward something greater.
Here are a few reflective questions:
- How do I usually react to disappointment?
- What lessons can I learn from my past disappointments?
- How does trusting God help me handle setbacks?
- What practical steps can I take to move forward after facing disappointment?
Let us pray:
Dear Lord, I thank You that even in my disappointments, You are still in control. Help me to see setbacks as opportunities for growth and trust that You are working everything out for my good. Give me the strength to persevere, the patience to wait on Your timing, and the faith to believe in Your greater plan. Amen.
Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:
- My disappointments do not define me.
- Every setback is a setup for a greater comeback.
- I trust God’s plan for my life.
- I will keep moving forward with faith and determination.
You are being shaped for something greater. See you tomorrow!
