27-OCTOBER-2024 - SELF LOVE - THE CATALYST FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE:  SELF LOVE; THE CATALYST FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE

The quote for today’s devotional is:

Self love is the inner fuel that keeps us grounded, joyful, and fully present, enabling us to give from a place of abundance rather than depletion.

- Omotola Atitebi

Devotional:

We hear the phrase “You can’t pour from an empty cup” every now and then but what does this really mean?

Self-love is the foundation upon which we build the ability to serve others effectively. It is not selfishness but a profound respect for our own well-being, a recognition of our worth, and a commitment to nurturing ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Think about it as Self - nurture - filling our own cup, allowing it to overflow with the energy, compassion, and clarity needed to serve others with genuine care.

This act of self nurture creates a ripple effect that encourages others to honour their own needs. This self-nurturing practice empowers us to show up as our best selves, with resilience, empathy, and a deeper connection to those we serve.

It helps us move from just desire to actually helping others into meaningful, sustainable, and impactful service.

Self-love is often misunderstood as selfishness, but in truth, it is the foundation for effective service to others. Just as Elijah needed to be refreshed to continue his mission, we too must care for ourselves so that we can be fully present and capable of fulfilling our purpose. When we love ourselves, we acknowledge our worth and our need for care, which in turn empowers us to serve others with a full heart.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. In what areas of my life have I been neglecting my own needs in the pursuit of serving others?
  2. How can I incorporate moments of self-care into my daily routine to ensure I am replenished and ready to serve?
  3. What practical steps can I take today to nourish my body, mind, and spirit, as Elijah did?

LET US PRAY:

Lord, I thank You for the reminder that self-love is not selfishness but rather a necessary act of care that enables me to serve others effectively. Help me to recognize my own needs and to take time for rest and nourishment. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I am deserving of love, care, and nourishment.
  • Taking care of myself is essential to fulfilling my purpose.
  • I am strengthened and refreshed, ready to serve others with a full heart.

Take time to show some love to yourself today. I’ll see you tomorrow!

26-OCTOBER-2024 - YOUR UNIQUE STORY - EMBRACING YOUR TESTIMONY

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: YOUR UNIQUE STORY: EMBRACING YOUR TESTIMONY

The quote for today’s devotional is:
"Your story is the key that can unlock someone else’s prison." – Author Unknown

Devotional:
Everyone has a story. From the experiences that shape us to the challenges we’ve overcome, our stories are what make us unique. But often, we feel like our story isn’t significant enough to share, or maybe we’re afraid of what others might think. The truth is, your testimony—no matter how simple or complex—has the power to inspire and bring hope to others.

In the Bible, the apostle Paul is a great example of someone who embraced his story. Before he became a follower of Christ, Paul persecuted Christians. But after his radical transformation, he didn’t hide his past; instead, he shared his testimony to show the power of God’s grace and redemption in his life. Paul’s testimony encouraged countless people to believe that change is possible and that God can use anyone, regardless of their past.

Embracing your testimony means accepting your unique journey and understanding that God can use your experiences, both good and bad, for a greater purpose. Whether it’s a story of overcoming personal struggles, finding your purpose, or experiencing God’s grace, your testimony has the potential to bring healing and encouragement to others. Don’t be afraid to share it—you never know who might need to hear your story to unlock their own.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What experiences in my life have shaped your unique story?
  2. Are there parts of my story that I am hesitant to share? Why?
  3. How can embracing my testimony help others who may be going through similar experiences?

LET US PRAY:
Lord, thank You for the story You are writing in my life. Help me to embrace my testimony and use it to encourage others. Amen."

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I embrace my unique story and trust that God will use my testimony to inspire and encourage others.
  • My journey, with all its ups and downs, has value, and I will share it boldly, knowing that it can make a difference in someone’s life.

Cheers to a beautiful day, catch you tomorrow!

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: WHAT MAKES ME, ME

The quote for today’s devotional is:
"I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul."

– Nelson Mandela

Devotional:
What makes you unique? From your personality, your strengths, and your life experiences, everything about you is distinctively yours. Nelson Mandela, one of Africa’s greatest icons, embodied this idea. He knew who he was and what he stood for, even when it was difficult. His unique qualities of resilience, courage, and deep sense of justice made him the leader who would inspire millions. Mandela didn’t conform to the pressures of society but instead embraced his identity as a voice for justice and equality. His unwavering belief in who he was allowed him to make a lasting impact on the world.

Like Mandela, you are created with a unique combination of traits that no one else possesses. Psalm 139:14 reminds us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” God designed every part of you with intention, and it is in embracing these qualities that you can make the most of your life. Whether it’s your talent in art, your passion for helping others, or your ability to solve problems, all these traits make up who you are. Embracing them allows you to live confidently and with purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What makes me unique?
  2. How do I embrace my individuality in a world that often encourages us to conform?
  3. Are there some things about me that I struggle to accept?
  4. How can I use my unique qualities and talents to make a positive impact on others, as Nelson Mandela did?

LET US PRAY:
Lord, thank You for creating me with a unique purpose and identity. Help me to embrace who I am, just as Nelson Mandela did, and use my strengths for the good of others. Give me the courage to walk confidently in who You’ve made me to be. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I celebrate my uniqueness, knowing that God created me for a purpose.
  • I embrace my strengths, talents, and even my challenges, understanding that they shape who I am.

Have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

"Your voice can change the world." – Barack Obama

Devotional:
Have you ever felt like your voice doesn’t matter or that no one would listen to what you have to say? The truth is, your voice is powerful and valuable. Every one of us has a unique perspective, story, and insight to share with the world. Think about the great changes in history—many of them started because someone decided to speak up. Whether it's standing up for justice, sharing your ideas, or speaking words of kindness and encouragement, your voice can influence the world around you.

Barack Obama’s journey to becoming the first African-American president of the United States began with the belief that his voice, no matter how small it seemed at the time, could inspire hope and change. Like him, your voice has the power to make an impact. It doesn’t matter your age, status, or background—what you have to say matters. There is someone yearning to hear it.

God has given each of us a voice to use for good. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that "the tongue has the power of life and death." With your words, you can uplift, inspire, and even change someone's life for the better. Don’t underestimate the value of your voice. Whether it’s speaking up for someone, sharing your ideas, or encouraging a friend, your words have the power to make a difference.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What do I have to say?
  2. Do I believe my voice is valuable? Why or why not?
  3. Have there been times when I felt afraid to speak up? What held you back?
  4. How can you use my voice to encourage, uplift, or inspire those around me?

LET US PRAY:
Lord, thank You for the gift of my voice. Help me to use it wisely and courageously to speak truth, bring encouragement, and make a positive impact. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I know what I Have
  • I have something to say to heal the world
  • I acknowledge the power and value of my voice.
  • I will not be afraid to speak.

You have something to say, let your voice be heard today. Take good care, I’ll see you tomorrow!

In a world obsessed with external appearances, it’s easy to lose sight of the true beauty that lies within each of us.
