17-SEPTEMBER-2024 - CHOICES, ACTIONS AND CONSEQUENCES

THE MAIN THEME: WHERE AM I HEADED TO?

TITLE: CHOICES, ACTIONS AND CONSEQUENCES

Our quote for today’s devotional is:

Every choice comes with a consequence. Once you make a choice, you must accept responsibility. You cannot escape the consequences of your choices, whether you like them or not. - Roy T. Bennett

Devotional:

As you navigate your world, there will be times you will be faced with choices. Sometimes the choices will be easy to make or at least they will not have ‘serious’ consequences if a wrong choice is made. However, there would be some decisions that could have a huge impact on a wider audience. Our choices and actions may either lead towards our goals or distant us from our goals.

Rehoboam was the son of King Solomon. He took over the Kingdom when Solomon died. However, when the Israelites came to ask him to reduce the taxes and lessen the burden His father had placed on them, instead of heeding the advice from the elders who had served under his father, he chose to listen to his peers. This wrong decision led to the division of Israel.

As children of God, we are assured of God’s help even when we need to make decisions. We can choose to pray, seek wise counsel (not just listen to those who say what we want them to say), and then do our best. But if it turns out that the direction taken did not lead to a great end, there is redemption in Jesus Christ. So don’t delay in running back to His arms, asking for His mercies and asking for His direction to go again and conquer your world!

Don’t wait till you reach that goal to be proud of yourself; be proud of every action you take, every choice you take towards reaching that goal. This will serve as a source of encouragement.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  •  Do I think of the consequences of my actions?
  • Are there any current actions, choices or decisions I need to make?
  • Have I prayed about it?

LET US PRAY:

Dear God, help me to always make choices and actions that gravitate towards my desired goals. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know where I am headed.
  • I will apply wisdom in all I do.

Do have a beautiful day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

16-SEPTEMBER-2024 - BEGINNING WITH THE END IN MIND

THE MAIN THEME: WHERE AM I HEADED TO?

TITLE: BEGINNING WITH THE END IN MIND

Our quote for today’s devotional is:

To begin with the end in mind means to start with a clear understanding of your destination. It means to know where you're going so that you better understand where you are now and so that the steps you take are always in the right direction. - Stephen Covey

Devotional:

I once heard someone say “if you don’t want to go to Lagos, why are you boarding a vehicle that is headed to Lagos”. Well, maybe it was not said in those exact words but the message summarizes our lesson for today.

When we are clear about where we are heading to, or what we want, it makes it easier to find the route and equip ourselves with whatever we need to be able to get to the desired destination.

Your vision helps you clarify your whys and think through how you want to go about attaining your desired goals. Also, clarifying your goals makes it so vivid that others can understand what drives you and some may even help you achieve it.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  •       List out three major areas of your life and write out at least one clear, achievable goal in each area that you would like to pursue in the next 90 days.
  •       For each goal listed, write out at least one thing you will start doing each day (and maybe what time of day you would engage in the activity) to help you achieve that goal.

LET US PRAY:

Dear God, I thank you for the dreams and visions you have placed in my heart. Because of this great plan you have for me, equip me and enable me to do all I need to do to reach this expected end in Jesus name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know where I am headed.
  • I am walking towards a glorious destiny.
  • I am equipped to succeed in all I do.
  • I will do my best daily as I rise to take my place on the earth!

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

15-SEPTEMBER-2024 - SELF DISCIPLINE - THE PROPELLER TO DESTINY

THE MAIN THEME: WHERE AM I HEADED TO?

TITLE: SELF DISCIPLINE: THE PROPELLER TO DESTINY

Our Bible verse for today’s devotional is: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NIV)
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Devotional:

We have looked at the importance of understanding our purpose previously. This is important for several reasons, one of which is that knowing your purpose will help you develop certain disciplines that will help you reach your destination.

Our Bible passage for today uses an example from sports where people commit to rigorous training in order to win at whatever sports they engage in. From football to basketball to swimming to tennis, whatever it is - throughout history, outstanding athletes have clocked in uncountable hours in training and mastery of their game, and this shows in the final performance. Sometimes, they dont feel like.

Even Paul in verse 27 of our Bible passage, indicated that he too had developed certain disciplines to ensure that he is able to accomplish his mission. Self-discipline is training your body to do what it does not want to do, because of the prize ahead.

Self-discipline shows up in a lot of ways- it will show up in how we conduct ourselves, it will show up in how we commit to training and/or mentoring to build the needed skills required to help us reach our goals, it will also show up in what we chose to do daily to ensure we stay on track.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  •       What skills do I need to develop to help me reach my destination?
  •       How can I learn these skills?

LET US PRAY:

Dear God, I ask for your grace to be self disciplined and committed so that I can attain all that you have destined for me in Jesus name. Amen

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know where I am headed
  • I am disciplined and committed
  • I will not allow indiscipline to prevent me from becoming all I was created to be.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

14-SEPTEMBER-2024 - WEALTH IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION

THE MAIN THEME: WHERE AM I HEADED TO?

TITLE: WEALTH IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION

The quote for today’s devotional is:

‘Happiness is a journey not a destination, work like you dont need money, love like you have never been hurt, and dance like no one is watching’. - Buddha

Devotional:

Wealth is often misunderstood as just having a lot of money. But true wealth goes beyond your bank account. It's about living a life that's rich in knowledge, health, purpose, relationships, and experiences.

Think of wealth like a road trip that has no end. The journey is where the real magic happens – the scenic views, the detours, the people you meet along the way, the learnings; and you know the learnings never end. The day we stop learning, that is the day we start dying.

It's not about arriving at a certain point (the destination) and thinking, "I've made it; so there is no more to get, no more to learn, nothing to improve on but it's about enjoying the process, learning, and evolving every step of the way.

Wealth is a journey of:

  • Learning new things; learning from failures and setbacks
  • Discovering your passions and talents
  • Building meaningful relationships with family and friends
  • Growing into the best version of yourself
  • Making a positive impact in the world

So, focus on the journey, not just the destination. Cultivate wealth in all areas of your life – your relationships, your health, your personal growth, and your community. That's where true wealth lies.

LET US PRAY:

Dear God, help me to be wise in seeking wealth in what matters and pleases you. Amen.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What do I need to gain wealth in?
  • What can I put in place that will not make me relaxed?

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know where I am headed.
  • I will be wealthy.
  • I will not be relaxed; I will keep pressing on.

Dear lovelies, as you keep wealth in mind, take good care of yourself. See you tomorrow.

13-SEPTEMBER-2024 - WHAT DO YOU SEE

THE MAIN THEME: WHERE AM I HEADED TO?

TITLE: WHAT DO YOU SEE?

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: 2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)

And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord , so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Devotional:

If we can see and think it, we can be it.

Faith and trust in God’s help and support allows us to see beyond the physical.

Elisha and his servant were surrounded by an enemy army. In fear, the servant questioned their fate, but Elisha prayed for God to open his eyes. The servant then saw a heavenly army protecting them, demonstrating God’s unseen protection.

Elisha’s story teaches us to trust that God is at work, even when we can't see it. Developing spiritual vision helps us to recognize God’s presence and guidance in our lives.

Look beyond your immediate circumstances and trust in God's bigger plan. Develop spiritual vision through prayer and Bible study. Ask God to open your eyes to see His hand at work in your life.

LET US PRAY:

Lord, open my mind to dream, my eyes to see,  that which you can accomplish through me.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • Do I give time to think and see?
  • Can I trust God enough to help me become that which I see?

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know where I am headed.
  • I see beyond the physical and trust in God's greater plan for my life.

Dear lovelies, allow yourself to dream today. I’ll see you tomorrow.
