16-JANUARY-2025 - DISCOVERING ULTERIOR MOTIVES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: DISCOVERING ULTERIOR MOTIVES

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Matthew 7:16a (NIV)

By their fruit you will recognize them.

Devotional:
Choosing the right companions for life’s journey requires more than assessing outward appearances or words; it requires discernment. Jesus Himself modeled this. While He welcomed all, He also knew the hearts of those around Him. He understood who was genuine and who had ulterior motives.

People may walk with you for various reasons—some pure, some self-serving. It’s not always easy to spot motives immediately, but God grants us wisdom to discern. Pray for clarity, observe their actions, and pay attention to patterns. Genuine companions uplift, encourage, and align with your values and purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • What "fruit" have I noticed in the actions of those closest to me?
  • Are there any relationships in my life that need closer discernment?
  • How can I rely more on God to guide me in identifying true companions?

Let Us Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my light and guide. I ask for Your wisdom to discern the true motives of those I walk with. Teach me to see beyond appearances and recognize the fruit of their lives. Protect me from harm and guide me toward relationships that reflect Your love and truth. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I trust God to reveal the true nature of those around me.
  • I walk with people who bear good fruit in their lives.
  • I have wisdom and discernment in my relationships.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

15-JANUARY-2025 - DECODING FRIENDLY FOES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: DECODING FRIENDLY FOES

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 27:6 (NIV)

Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

Devotional:
Not everyone who smiles at you or offers a helping hand is genuinely on your side. Some people appear to be friends but secretly harbor intentions that can harm or mislead you. Friendly foes—individuals who disguise ill intentions under the pretense of friendship—can often be the most dangerous, as they gain your trust before causing harm. Learning to discern between true friends and friendly foes is critical for navigating relationships and making wise choices about who to journey through life with.

Take Judas Iscariot, for instance. He was one of Jesus’ disciples, someone trusted with the group’s finances and privy to Christ's teachings. Yet, his greed and deceit led him to betray Jesus with a kiss—a seemingly friendly act that had devastating consequences. This story reminds us that actions don’t always reflect intentions, and discernment is key to identifying who truly has our best interests at heart.

True friends encourage, uplift, and correct you with love, even when uncomfortable. Friendly foes, however, may flatter you, manipulate situations, or secretly compete with you. Asking for God’s wisdom and observing people’s actions over time can help you decode who genuinely supports you and might be a "friendly foe."

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Are there relationships in my life that feel more draining than uplifting?
  2. How can I develop discernment to identify true friends versus friendly foes?
  3. What boundaries can I set to protect my peace and purpose?

Let us pray:
Lord, give me the wisdom to discern between true friends and those who mean harm. Help me build relationships that honor You and remove any influences that hinder my growth and purpose. Guide me to walk with those who genuinely support and uplift me. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I choose to surround myself with genuine, supportive relationships.
  • With God’s wisdom, I discern between true friends and those who disguise ill intentions.
  • I walk confidently with people who uplift and inspire me.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

14-JANUARY-2025 - CREATING MY INNER CIRCLE

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: CREATING MY INNER CIRCLE

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Devotional:
Your inner circle—the people closest to you—plays a significant role in shaping your life. These relationships influence your mindset, decisions, and overall well-being. Choosing who belongs in your inner circle requires intentionality and wisdom. It’s not about having a large group of friends but surrounding yourself with those who support, inspire, and challenge you to become the best version of yourself.

Consider Jesus’ example: while He taught and interacted with many, He had an inner circle of twelve disciples, and even within that group, He was particularly close to Peter, James, and John. These relationships were built on trust, shared purpose, and mutual growth. Jesus’ inner circle walked with Him through key moments of His ministry, providing support and companionship.

Creating your inner circle means prioritizing relationships with people who share your values, encourage your dreams, and hold you accountable. These are the friends who will celebrate your victories, help you through struggles, and challenge you to stay true to your purpose.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Who in my life consistently supports and inspires me?
  2. Do my closest relationships align with my values and goals?
  3. Are there friendships I need to invest in more deeply or re-evaluate?

Let Us Pray:
Lord, help me to choose wisely the people I allow into my inner circle. Surround me with those who uplift, encourage, and challenge me to grow closer to You. Teach me to be a friend who also inspires and strengthens others. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I intentionally create an inner circle of friends who are  trustworthy and supportive.
  • I nurture relationships that align with my values and purpose
  • I grow alongside those who encourage my best self.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself. I’ll see you tomorrow!

13-JANUARY-2025 - A FRIEND THAT CARES

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: A FRIEND THAT CARES

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 17:17 (NIV)

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."

Devotional:
True friendship is one of life’s greatest treasures. A caring friend is someone who stands by you, not just in the good times but also during challenges. They listen, encourage, and help lighten your burdens. Caring friends are like anchors, offering stability and strength when life feels overwhelming.

One beautiful example of friendship in the Bible is Jonathan and David. Jonathan, the son of King Saul, cared deeply for David and protected him, even when his own father sought to harm David. Jonathan’s care wasn’t based on what he could gain but on a selfless commitment to David’s well-being. Their friendship reminds us of the value of having and being a friend who genuinely cares.

In today’s fast-paced world, caring friendships can sometimes feel rare. But as much as we seek such friends, we are also called to be that kind of friend to others. Being a caring friend involves showing empathy, being present, and offering encouragement and support without expecting anything in return.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Do I have friends who truly care for me, and how do they show it?
  2. Am I a caring friend to those in my circle?
  3. How can I nurture and strengthen the caring friendships in my life?

Let us pray:
"Lord, thank You for the gift of friendships. Help me to cherish and nurture the friends who care for me and teach me to be a friend who reflects Your love and kindness. Surround me with people who uplift and inspire me. Amen."

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am empathetic, an enabler, an encourager and an extraordinary gift to humanity.
  • I am grateful for friends who care for me and show genuine love.
  • I am filled with love for myself and for my friends

I wish you my lovelies, a lovely day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

12-JANUARY-2025 - SUPERIOR RELATIONSHIP SKILLS

THE MAIN THEME: WHO DO I GO WITH?

TITLE: SUPERIOR RELATIONSHIP SKILLS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Luke 6:31 (NIV)

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Devotional

Maya and her best friend had a big argument over a misunderstanding. Maya wanted to ignore her friend, but her mom encouraged her to talk it out. She prayed for courage and reached out to her friend, apologizing and explaining her feelings. They worked through the issue and became even closer. Maya learned that strong relationships require communication and humility.

Building strong relationships is a skill that can transform your life. Great relationships are built on respect, understanding, kindness, communication and care. Superior relationship skills involve putting others first, being mindful of their needs, and responding with love and empathy. As we develop these skills, we not only create stronger connections but also reflect God’s love in how we relate to others.

  1. Treat others with respect

The foundation of any good relationship is respect. When you show kindness and value to others, you creatE an environment where trust and love can thrive. Treat people the way you want to be treated, and it will foster an atmosphere of mutual respect.

  1. Be a good listener

Good communication is more than just talking; it’s listening attentively and responding with empathy. When we truly listen to others, we show that we value their feelings and perspectives, which strengthens relationships.

  1. Practice forgiveness and grace towards others. Conflict is inevitable in any relationship. What is most important is how we respond. Superior relationship skills require forgiveness when wronged and extending grace to others, just as God has forgiven us through Christ.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  • How can I treat others with more respect in my relationships?
  • What steps can I take to become a better listener?
  • Is there a relationship that requires my forgiveness or grace today?

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I treat others with respect and kindness.
  • I listen carefully and respond with empathy.
  • I forgive easily and extend grace to those around me.

Have a delightful day darlings. Take very good care of yourselves. I’ll see you tomorrow.
