02-MAY-2025 - COPING WITH ACADEMIC SETBACKS

THE MAIN THEME: FAILING FORWARD

TITLE: COPING WITH ACADEMIC SETBACKS

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Devotional

Have you ever worked hard for a test, only to get a disappointing grade? Or spent hours on a project, but it didn’t turn out the way you expected? Academic setbacks can be frustrating and discouraging. You might feel like you are not smart enough or that your efforts were wasted.

But your grades do not define you! God has given you a mind to learn and grow, and setbacks are just part of the journey. Even the most successful people have faced failures before achieving great things. What matters most is not how many times you fall, but how you rise and keep going.

Instead of seeing academic struggles as the end, view them as opportunities to learn and improve. Maybe you need to try a different study method, ask for help, or manage your time better. Whatever the case, don’t give up! God promises to give you strength and wisdom when you rely on Him.

So, take a deep breath. Your future is not ruined by one bad grade or one tough subject. Keep putting in the effort, trust in God’s plan, and remember—He is with you in every challenge.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. How do I usually react when I face academic setbacks?
  2. What is one practical step I can take to improve in an area where I am struggling?
  3. How can I trust God more when facing school challenges?

Let us pray

Dear God, sometimes  I feel frustrated when I don’t do as well as I hoped. Help me to see setbacks as opportunities to grow. Give me wisdom, focus, and determination to keep going  in Jesus name  Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I am capable, strong, and growing.
  •  Academic setbacks do not define me.
  • With God's help, I will keep improving.

Have a no-holding back day lovelies. Take good care. I’ll see y’all tomorrow.

01-MAY-2025 - CAN SOMEONE FAIL MORE THAN ONCE

THE MAIN THEME:  FAILING FORWARD

TITLE:  CAN SOMEONE FAIL MORE THAN ONCE?

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 24:16 (NIV)

‘For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again but the wicked stumbles when calamity strikes.

Devotional

Yes! People can fail more than once – many times, in fact. But failure is not the problem; staying down is.

James was a high school student who always worked hard. He studied for hours, aced his assignments, and practiced every day for his final exams. But when the results came, James was devastated to see that he hadn’t passed as well as he expected. The disappointment hit him hard. "I worked so hard, God. Why did I fail?" he asked himself.

But James wasn’t ready to give up. Despite feeling crushed by his first failure, he reflected on what went wrong, studied even harder, and prepared for the next round of tests. The second time, he made the same mistake and failed again. He was discouraged but determined. "Why did I fail again after all my effort?" James wondered, feeling like a failure.

However, instead of giving up, James reached out to his teachers, asking for help and feedback. With their support, he made the necessary adjustments and put in even more effort. Finally, on the third attempt, his results were different. Not only did James pass, but he excelled—far better than he had ever imagined.

James’s journey teaches us something important: failure is not the end; it’s often part of the process toward success. Can someone fail more than once? Absolutely. And each time, James learned something new that helped him grow stronger and more capable.

The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is persistence. God never said we wouldn’t fail, but He does promise to give us strength to rise again. Each failure is a lesson, a stepping stone, a refining process to make you stronger.

So, if you have failed before and you fail again, don’t be discourage. Keep getting up, keep learning, and keep trusting God. Your story is not over yet!

Here are a few reflective questions;

  1.   Have I ever wanted to give up after failing more than once?
  2.   What do I think God is teaching me through repeated failures?
  3.   How can I remind myself to keep going even when things don’t work out the first time

30-APRIL-2025 - EFFECTIVE CHANGE IS BY FAITH AND WORKS

THE MAIN THEME:  CHANGING YOUR WORLD

TITLE: EFFECTIVE CHANGE IS BY FAITH AND WORKS

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: James 2:26 (NIV)

"As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”

Devotional:

Change is something we all desire at different points in life—whether in our habits, relationships, or spiritual walk. But real, lasting change doesn’t just happen because we believe it can. It requires both faith and action.

Faith is believing that God is able to transform us. It is trusting that He has the power to help us overcome struggles, break bad habits, and step into His purpose. But faith alone isn’t enough—we must also take action.

If you pray for success but never put in the effort, change won’t happen. If you desire spiritual growth but never spend time with God, your faith will remain stagnant.

God calls us to partner with Him in the process of change. When we step out in obedience—whether by making better choices, practicing discipline, or trusting Him in uncertainty—He meets us there. True transformation happens when our faith fuels our actions, and our actions demonstrate our faith.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What area of your life needs to change right now?
  2. What small step can you take today to align your faith with your works?

Let us Pray

Heavenly Father, I pray that my faith will be reflected in my actions, and that my works will be empowered by my faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I trust God for transformation,
  • I take steps of faith to bring change into my life."

Do have a fulfilling day. I'll see you tomorrow.

 29-APRIL-2025 - FACING YOUR FEARS

THE MAIN THEME:  CHANGING YOUR WORLD

TITLE: FACING YOUR FEARS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

Devotional

There are different types of fears in the bible but the one our topic for today is referring to is a type of fear that is detrimental and can destroy one’s confidence. It brings worry, torment and unrest.

Everyday of our life we are confronted with one fear or the other. Fear of facing our academics with courage, fear of failure, fear of rejection or isolation by our peers, fear of death or loss of someone.

These are natural to our existence but God knowing that we will face these fears, commands us in Isaiah 41:10 saying Fear not for I am with you Be not dismayed for I am your God, I will

God wants to be famous for his compassion and ability to deliver us. He wants to be famous for showing up in our despair and being our source of overcoming our fears. Remember when Moses had to go back to Pharaoh after his encounter with God at mount Sinai, that was a moment of excruciating fear. He had to face the same king that raised him, whom he had turned his back on because of his love for his brethren. It was not an easy task but Moses had to trust God and embark on the journey of leading the Israelite out of Egypt. It is in God’s nature to come to our rescue whenever we call upon Him Jere 33:3

God has not given us the spirit of fear but the spirit of love and sound mind 2 Tim 1:7 In our text for today God promises to hold us by the hand and help us. What a father we have in Jesus! What a connection!

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. What fears have I exalted above the Almightiness of God?
  2. Are there no times God has shown up for me in the past?
  3. Why can’t I trust Him for my present fears?

Let us Pray:

Thank you, Lord, for your word to me today. I receive the spirit of love, power and sound mind. I choose to release all my fears, cares and worries to your helping hands in Jesus name Amen

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I am held in God’s hand, I shall fear no evil
  • I am courageous and bold

Cheers to a beautiful day. I’ll see you tomorrow.

28-APRIL-2025 - THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

THE MAIN THEME:  CHANGING YOUR WORLD

TITLE: THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Matthew 6:14

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you..

Devotional

But dad, Emmanuel deliberately hurt my feelings, Dinma lamented; he is fun of cajoling me in the presence of his friends, calling me “fatty bombom” I am not happy being fat, and I have been working towards losing weight. I have cut down on my carb intake, I am exercising more now, because he is not seeing the effect does not mean that I am not worried about it. I won’t let his making me look stupid and worthless before his friends slide, Dinma expressed furiously.

This is a typical experience of teens amongst their siblings and friends. Sometimes when your heart aches from pains of unforgiveness it blurs your mind from thinking critically and relating freely. Unforgiveness is like taking pills for someone else’s ailment or drinking poison expecting the other person to drop dead. It is of no value as the negative effect is far more devastating. Does it minimize the effect of offence, no! but you have a choice to let if fester or to trash it by letting it go.

Forgiveness is first about you, it is about your mental health, it’s about your overall well being. While forgiveness is difficult it is the key to releasing freedom, peace, and joy into our lives. This is why forgiveness is not dependent on the apology tendered to you, sometimes the offender might be ignorant of his offence, so choose to forgive ahead of offences so that you can guard your inner peace.

We are all in need of forgiveness. Jesus praying for us on the cross asked God to forgive us for we know not what we do. And he made forgiveness a condition for us to receive forgiveness from God. Do you think you ‘ve got a choice in this matter?  Nope, simply give what you want to receive. Mark 11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. You see, forgiveness is first about you.

Forgiveness is God’s nature, Psalm 86:5 “Oh Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Have you accepted God's forgiveness of your sin through Christ Jesus? Have you extended forgiveness to yourself, today and now is the right time to do so.

This is one of the ways we can change our world, when we extend forgiveness to those that hurt us and to ourselves.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. Who do I owe forgiveness today? You may need to make a call now to that person
  2. Have I completely forgiven myself of any past mistake?

Let us Pray:

Thank you, Lord for your word to me today. Thank you for forgiving my sins and demonstrating how to offer it to others,  I receive grace to forgive my offenders and to extend forgiveness to myself in Jesus name Amen

Please say these words of affirmation after me. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I am worthy of love and forgiveness
  • I embrace freedom, peace and joy that forgiveness offers me today

I’ll see you tomorrow
