22-OCTOBER-2024 - THE ABLE GOD, YOUR PILLAR OF SUPPORT

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE:  THE ABLE GOD, YOUR PILLAR OF SUPPORT

The bible verse for today’s devotional is: Psalm 28:7 (NIV)

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me."

Devotional Reading:

Ever felt tired and weak? Weak enough mentally or emotionally that you can feel your knees give way, as though the weight of the world is pressing down on you? In these moments, it's easy to feel alone and overwhelmed, as if the burdens you carry are too much to bear. But take heart, for God is your pillar of support—He is the one who sustains you when you feel like you can't go on.

God is not only able but eager to strengthen and uphold you. He knows your struggles, your fears, and the weight you carry. His strength is made perfect in your weakness, and His support is unfailing. When you feel like you can't stand any longer, remember that the Able God is with you, holding you up and giving you the strength to keep moving forward.

Whether you’re dealing with physical exhaustion, emotional strain, or spiritual fatigue, God’s power is sufficient. He is your shield, your protector, and your source of renewed strength. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and allow Him to be your firm foundation when everything else seems unstable.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. In what areas of my  life am I feeling weak or overwhelmed right now?
  2. How can I lean on God fully as my pillar of support?
  3. What does it mean for me to trust in God's strength rather than relying solely on my own?

LET US PRAY:

Father, I come before You acknowledging my need for Your strength. Lord, help me to recognize You as my pillar of support, when I feel like I can’t stand on my own. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them, and live them:

  • I know what I have.
  • God is my strength and my support in all things.
  • I trust in the Lord to carry me through my challenges.
  • When I am weak, God’s strength upholds me.

Do have a fantastic day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

21-OCTOBER-2024 - THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT -DOMINION

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT -DOMINION

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Proverbs 22:29 (NIV)

‘Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.

Devotional:

In the different Bible translations of our verse for the day, the word skillful is translated into the words ‘diligent’, ‘excel’, ‘competent’, etc. This tells us that what we need to stand out-to really have dominion in our sphere will be more than just an understanding or the deployment of our gifts and talents.

There must be an intentionality and a doggedness to become the best and take over territories. Of course, everyone does not have the same definition of a territory, “to some He gave 5, to some he gave 10”; but everyone must be committed to ensuring that they are better today than they were yesterday. We must have a growth mindset as all we know is not all there is to know. We must choose excellence and set other values that truly stand us out from the crowd. God expects us not just to be faithful with what He has entrusted to us, but to be good/to be skillful at it.

Here are a few reflective questions:

-          Can my current skill level get me a spot with the King/people that need it and can reward me generously for this skill?

-          When I feel that unrest, that tug in my soul telling me I can do more, do I respond and ask how? Or do I recoil?

 LET US PRAY:

Dear God, I thank you for a reminder that I need to be a skillful servant and not just a faithful one. I trust you to help me become all I was created to be in Jesus' name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I am talented and competent
  • I am getting better each day
  • I have a growth mindset
  • I am skillful and faithful with my talents .

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

20-OCTOBER-2024 - THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT - SUBDUE

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE:  THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT - SUBDUE

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Devotional:

In the last few days, we have looked at identifying, growing, and mastering the use of our talents. However, if we do all the work of developing our gifts, but never step out and use them, what would be the use of all that effort?

The story of David in the Bible is an interesting story of being prepared and being brave enough to cease the moment when the opportunity shows up. David had been in the back side of the wilderness, tending his father’s sheep and in that time had improved his skills, both in music and in defending the sheep he tended. The opportunity came to showcase his skill when Saul needed a musician in the palace, and when Israel needed a hero to face Goliath, David was ready and he didn’t make excuses, he simply stepped into the limelight, ignoring the negativities from his brothers, and the rest is history.

Here are a few reflective questions:

  1. In what way can I use my talent to solve a problem in my immediate community?
  2. How can I overcome any fears or barriers in using my talent?

 LET US PRAY:

Dear God, I thank you for giving me the Spirit of boldness. Help me see and seize opportunities to showcase my gifts in Jesus' name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I am a solution provider
  • I am courageous and bold
  • I am committed to being prepared.
  • I will take up opportunities to light up my world.

Do have a problem solving day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

19-OCTOBER-2024 - THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT - REPLENISH

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE:  THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT - REPLENISH

Our bible verse for today’s devotional is: Exodus 31:3 (NIV)

and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills

Devotional:

In our bible verse for today, Bezalel was gifted in an extraordinary way. The Bible says that he was filled with the Spirit of God and given special abilities to create various things out of gold, silver, bronze, wood, and stones. And he was also given the ability to teach others.

It is remarkable that this verse specifically points us to the fact that our gifts are a direct blessing from God. As such, it is pertinent to connect with our source when we need to ‘recharge’ or gain a clearer perspective on how to advance with our giftings, or when we need to ignite our creativity.

Additionally, God has blessed us with role models, who can inspire us in the different areas of our gifts- be they famous people that we read of, or actual mentors that we can connect with and learn from. If we are willing to learn from a higher authority or engage those with more knowledge in our gifts, we can move more purposefully towards accomplishing great things in our generation.

Here is a reflective question:-

-          Are they role models or people who have achieved great things with my kind of talent that I can gain inspiration from (e.g reading about them or finding ways to connect with them and learn)?

LET US PRAY:

Dear God, give me a teachable heart, that I may learn from you and others and use my talents effectively, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I am graced with the Spirit of God, therefore I am creative
  • I am filled daily with unusual wisdom and ability to conquer my world

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!

18-OCTOBER-2024 - THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT - MULTIPLICATION

THE MAIN THEME: WHAT DO I HAVE?

TITLE: THE 5 PHASES OF TALENT - MULTIPLICATION

Our quote for today’s devotional is:

“Discipline and constant work are the whetstones upon which the dull knife of talent is honed until it becomes sharp enough, hopefully, to cut through even the toughest meat and gristle.” ― Stephen King

Devotional:

Talents, they say, are God-given and skills are things you can learn. However, whether it be an in-born talent or an acquired skill, one thing is sure, we need to commit to getting better at developing and knowing the best way to use our giftings effectively.

There are many examples of those who had dedicated their time to honing their skills.. for today, we will look at Micheal Jordan, one of the legendary basketballers of our time.

Michael Jordan’s path to greatness was paved with hard work and dedication. In high school, despite his talent, he wasn’t picked for the varsity basketball team. Many would have given up, but not Michael. He saw this setback as an opportunity to dig deeper, spending countless hours refining his skills and pushing his limits. His unwavering commitment to building his talent led to a breakthrough when he was recruited by the University of North Carolina, where he made the game-winning shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship. From there, his relentless pursuit of excellence took him to the pinnacle of basketball, earning six NBA championships and five MVP awards. Michael’s journey is a testament to the power of dedication and the incredible things that can happen when we commit to developing our gifts, no matter the obstacles.

Here are a few reflective questions:

-          How can I use my talents today to be a blessing to someone?

-          In what ways can I show commitment to growing my talents and/or skills?

LET US PRAY:

Dear God, I thank you for entrusting me with this gift of [insert your talent here], I ask that you help me commit to learning about and growing my strengths in Jesus' name. Amen.

Please say these words of affirmation. Say them, mean them, own them and live them:

  • I know what I have
  • I have been entrusted with great talents.
  • I am committed to growing my talents.
  • I am getting better at using my talents each day.

Do have a fulfilling day. Take good care of yourself and see you tomorrow!
